Cancun travel recap 2019: activities, food and more

It’s no secret that Mexico is one of my favorite destinations. And it’s just about the beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. It’s also about the culture, people, language, and more. This was not our first time in Cancun, and, frankly speaking, we were a little worried whether it was a good idea to visit it again. However, this trip was absolutely different and exceeded my expectations. It turned out to be one of the best adventures of my life and allowed me to see Cancun from different perspective.
WHAT WE DID

Spent a couple of days exploring beaches of Cancun
The last time we went to Cancun, all we wanted was to stay on the beach of our hotel, and enjoy the sun. And that was pretty much it. On our last day, we accidentally run into public beach and were amazed by its beauty so much, that we promised to come back and explore more. That’s exactly what we were doing during this trip.

Drove to Yucatan and visited Chichén-Ítza
I am glad we took time to plan, read and learn about Mayan ruins before visiting. It makes such a difference, especially when you take a guided tour. Chichén-Ítza is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and it does require preparations in order to have the best experience.

Explored the little town called “Piste”
I honestly have never heard about this town in Yucatan, but it’d be a crime not to explore it since it is on the way to Chichén-Ítza. We were hoping to drive to Merida as well, but we run out of time.

Went to a local Sunday market located far from the tourist zone
This is one of my favorite things to do after I lived in Mexico City. There is nothing like Sunday farmers’ markets in Mexico. We talked to a waiter in one of the local cafes and he recommended it. It’s far from the tourist zone, so it’s not as safe as in the center, but it’s the best way to see life in Cancun the way it is.

Took a ferry to Isla Mujeres
This trip was all about exploring: every day was like a new adventure. Isla Mujeres is a small beautiful island and the first island I have ever visited.

Went to Playa del Carmen
We love checking around and visit different places. It wasn’t our first time there, but I swear it is changing so much that you never know what you will experience next time!

Spent a day in Cozumel
Cozumel was on our bucket list for the longest time, and I am sure it wasn’t our last time there. It’s one of the most beautiful islands I have ever been too, and I can’t wait to try scuba diving there next year!

Four Point by Sheraton is a new hotel located in Downtown of Cancun. We have never stayed in this area, so it was really fun experience. The hotel is amazing, and the rooms are spacious with an outdoor patio (we booked Deluxe Guest Room). Check out their website here.
